Synopsis (English)

Melody is a girl with many dreams that seem impossible. Together with her best friends, she sings at a small town’s subway station and wants to dedicate her life to music and be like Layla, a United States pop star whom she idolizes. Melody hides her singing from her family, who have forbidden her to follow that vocation. She is

living with her aunt and uncle because her mother decided to leave her with them and go study fine arts in Europe after Melody’s birth, completely disappearing from her life. The only thing her mother left behind was a notebook containing her first poems for Melody, a notebook which her aunt and uncle never gave to her for fear of losing her as well. For them, writing, music, and any other form of artistic expression are synonymous with family abandonment. Now Melody is sixteen and fate plays its part. She finds the notebook, opens it, and magic unravels. From there on, unexpected events change Melody’s life forever.

On the other side of the planet, superstar Layla is being overwhelmed by her own success, and she is tired of not being in charge of her life. She suddenly starts hearing voices. Is she going crazy? Does she need to get away from it all? The voices speak to her in Spanish (a language she does not know) as Melody’s reality starts seeping into Layla’s. Those around her are worried, fearing she might be losing her mind. But instead of believing she is going mad, Layla feels there is something behind it and is determined to find out what it is, where the voices in her head are coming from and where they are trying to take her.

Meanwhile, Thomas Van Vorden, a renowned music producer, discovers Melody singing at the subway station and is determined to get to know her and transform her into a star. Coincidentally, he is the one who helped Layla conquer her Latin American audience. Events unroll in the lives of Melody and Layla, but they do so in opposite

directions: W hile Layla wants to simplify her life and be the master of her own time, Melody is willing to do anything to become a star under Van Vorden’s guidance, even if it means distancing herself from her friends and family. Finally, after learning from her mistakes, she understands that friendship and love are the most important forces in the world. W hen fate rewards her with the opportunity to meet Layla, their connection is instantaneous, and Layla becomes the one who will now guide Melody toward achieving her dreams.

Melody es una chica llena de sueños que parecen imposibles. Acompañada por sus mejores amigas, canta en el metro de una pequeña ciudad y desea dedicar su vida a la música como lo hace Layla, una estrella de pop que vive en Estados Unidos y a quien admira profundamente. Ella vive con sus tíos, ya que su madre decide dejarla con ellos, para irse a estudiar letras a Europa luego de su nacimiento, desapareciendo de su vida por completo. Solo le deja un cuaderno, en el cuál escribió sus primeros poemas para ella. Sin embargo, sus tíos jamás se lo entregaron por temor a perderla. Para ellos, la escritura, la música y cualquier expresión artística, son sinónimos de abandono familiar. Melody canta a escondidas de su familia, quienes le prohíben abrazar esta vocación. Hoy Melody tiene dieciséis. El destino hace lo suyo. Ella encuentra el cuaderno, lo abre y se desata la magia. A partir de ese momento, cambian la vida de Melody para siempre.

Desde el otro extremo del planeta, Layla se encuentra devorada por la maquinaria del éxito y cansada de no sentirse dueña de su vida. De forma repentina comienza a escuchar voces ¿Estará enloqueciendo?, ¿Necesitará descanso?. Son voces que le hablan en español, un idioma que ella no conoce. Es la realidad de Melody que comienza a filtrarse en la de Layla. Su entorno se preocupa, temen que esté enloqueciendo. Layla jamás duda de su cordura, siente que hay algo detrás de todo esto y está decidida a averiguar de qué se trata, de dónde vienen y hacia dónde quieren llevarla esas voces que solo siente en su cabeza.

Mientras tanto Thomas Van Vorden, un importante productor musical, descubre a Melody cantando en el metro y está decidido a conocerla y convertirla en estrella. Casualmente es el mismo que años atrás ayudó a Layla a conquistar al público latinoamericano. Los hechos se suceden en la vida de ambas, aunque por caminos inversos: Mientras Layla quiere simplificar su vida y ser dueña de su tiempo, Melody está dispuesta a todo para convertirse en estrella de la mano de Van Vorden, aún si esto implica alejarse de sus amigas y familia. Finalmente y a fuerza de errores, comprende que la amistad y el amor son las fuerzas más importantes que existen en el mundo. El destino le da una recompensa y le brinda la oportunidad de conocer a Layla, la conexión es instantánea y es ella quien la lleva ahora de la mano, para concretar sus sueños.
